Euphoria Latin Dance aims to promote, preserve and showcase the richness of Colombia’s folklore and culture offering folkloric and traditional dances from our country. The group is made up of experienced dancers who delight in the passionate performance of their nation’s dance heritage as well as the exploration of a contemporary expression of that dance culture. Euphoria Latin dance was established in 2011 by a group of artists and choreographers dedicated to social change through dance and movement. We aim to share with the community the joy of dance and the cultural variety of this beautiful country.
Jaragua is a kind of short green grass that grows everywhere in the field in El Salvador. The group began four years ago and we perform Salvadoran folk dance. At first the group consisted only of Salvadorans but now it has become a multicultural group because we have dancers from Australia, Chile, Peru and El Salvador. We have danced in several multicultural festivals. We are amateur dancers that devote our free time to rehearsals and performances for the purpose of raising awareness of the Salvadoran folklore.
Orkesta Salsa Brava is a 10 piece LIVE band that plays Salsa Music from all Latin America. Yes we sing in Spanish with a little English here and there! O.S.B was formed by Arnoldo Gomez in 2008. It is a blend of Latin American musicians (Colombia, Uruguay Mexico ) who all played extensibly in Australia and Latin America mixed with Australian Talent O.S.B Musicians are all professionals of very HI quality and vast experience! O.S.B is based in Brisbane but the World is our playground!! Our Music is for dancing! That’s IT!! With very relevant and meaningful lyrics in most of our tunes for all those who can understand them. We play Salsa covers from different artists like Ruben Blades, Joe Arroyo, Son Caribe, Jimmy Bosh, Mark Anthony Guaco, Hector Lavoe, La Sonora and others.

The group"Mi Tierra" is made up of Sandra Patricia Londono (vocals) and John Mario Vargas (guitar) professional musicians from Colombian. Mi Tiierra’s talent has been widely recognized in various artistic events in Colombia, where they have also recorded music widely recognised and accepted. The musical work "Mi Tierra" is based on American popular music in general, with special emphasis on the diffusion of the new music of Colombia.
Aussie Latinz: We present dances from Chile with Cristian and Pilar dancing 2 ‘pie de cueca’, a traditional Chilean dance. We will also have 2 dances from Easter Island performed by 6 young women, Whitney, Marcela, Claudia, Vanessa, Natalie and Michelle whose connection to Chile is their Chilean born parents.
Viva Venezuela Dancing group was created with the intention of promoting our culture through music and dance. We want to use this opportunity to show all Australia the fine traditions and dances of Venezuela.
We are a group of ten charismatic and enthusiastic Venezuelans that want to represent our beautiful country. Arelys Hernandez de Leon formed our group this year to promote the Venezuelan Traditions in Australia. Three members of the group create the Choreography, Daniella Lamberti who is a specialist in Ballet, Solo Latin and Flamenco, Blanca Ochoa and Kelvin Krouvier, choreographers and professional dancers in Salsa and Merengue. The group will perform the most popular and traditional Venezuelan dances, such as Joropo, tambores, vals andinos, merenque caraqueno and many more.

Viva Mexico is a group of self-motivated dancers whose sole aim is to share a small part of Mexican culture in Australia. The group is dedicated to share the Mexican culture through folkloric dance. Some of these dances represent different stages throughout Mexican history and others demonstrate the vast diversity between states. Since its creation in 2008, the group has been growing not only in numbers but also in recognition for the uniqueness of its performances. Starting from a small idea, "Viva Mexico" has developed into a non-profit organisation aiming to be recognised as the main representatives of Mexican folklore in Australia. Viva Mexico not only consists of Mexicans, but everyone who has an interest and the dedication to learn traditional Mexican folklore.
Tusuy Peru has been actively performing in different multicultural events or private functions since 2003. It is made up energetic lively people with a passion for Peruvian culture and dance. At the moment the group is made up of 7 Peruvians and one lovely Zimbawean lady. In the past there has been, Salvadoreans, Colombians and even Australians. Through our performances we aim to share with the Australian public a little about the Peruvian folkloric culture. We have a rich culture varying from coastal dances such as the "Marinera", highland dances such as "Huayno", and Afro-Peruvian dances such as "Festejo". Each of these dances contain a strong historical value to them and we hope we can express this through our dance.
Chukale Afro-Cuban Salsa Ensemble Directed by percussionist and lead singer Gustavo Cereijo, eleven-piece Afro-Cuban Salsa ensemble Chukale has been delighting Australian audiences since 2005. A benchmark for Latin American music in Australia, Chukale has supported touring international Salsa icons Sonora Carruseles from Colombia, Venezuela’s multiple Grammy award-winner Los Amigos Invisibles and Grammy award-winning Cuban cultural institution Los Van Van and Afro-Cuban All Stars. Chukale is dedicated to showcasing the cream of international Latin American talent. Legendary Buena Vista Social Club lead singer Felix Baloy and flautist Poblitu Tamayo recently paid Chukale its greatest compliment to date by recording with the band. Uruguay’s multi-gold record selling vocalist Gonzalo Porta and gifted Cuban pianist Marialy Pacheco have graced Chukale’s recent stage performances.
The band built its reputation working from the ground up with residencies in a variety of Brisbane hot spots including Cloudland, the Alhambra Lounge, Uber and Barsoma, and at Byron Bay’s famous Beach Hotel. They’ve ignited World Music festivals and events including the Woodford Folk Festival and Bellingen Global Carnival (2007), Darling Harbour’s Fiesta Festival (2008) and the Sydney Salsa Congress (2009). On stage, Uruguayan-born conga maestro Gustavo Cereijo teams with Alex Nesevski on timbales, drummer Sacha Kloostra, Daniel Gonzales on percussion and bass player Steele Chabau to form the band’s driving rhythm section. The Conservatorium-trained brass section comprises trumpet players Bob Schultz and Shannon Marshall. Also on trombone Shane Hannan teaming with Joseph Roberts on baritone and flute, who combine with pianist Christo “El Pulpo” Iconomidis give’s the band its unmistakable Salsa signature. The band is completed by John Sanchez on vocal, who adds further energy to the stage with his unmistakable talent as a “Salsero”.

The Flamenco Studio was established in 2000 by Simone Pope as a centre for flamenco dance tuition and performance in Brisbane. Since its’ establishment it has become Brisbane’s best known flamenco dance centre. The festival performance will feature some of her students and one of her guest teachers, Sebastian Sanchez.
Sebastian Sanchez has trained intensively for approximately 3 years in Jerez and Seville, learning from international artists such as Rafael Campallo, Manuel Betanzos, Andrés Peña, Pili Ogalla, Juan de los Reyes, and Alejandro Granados. Sebastian has taught at various levels as a guest teacher at flamenco studios all over Australia and is a much sought-after performer.
Vanessa Hilton commenced flamenco classes at Simone Pope's ‘Flamenco Studio' in Brisbane in 2000. Vanessa is also a teacher at The Flamenco Studio, and to this day continues her own flamenco studies with Simone Pope. She has travelled to Spain twice to learn from Ana Maria Lopez in Jerez, and from Ursula Lopez, Soraya Clavijo, and Leonor Leal in Seville.
Guitarist Kris Iwaniuk began his initial flamenco guitar studies with his father. In between performing, Kris is currently recording his debut CD featuring his own compositions for flamenco guitar. Kris also regularly accompanies flamenco dance classes at The Flamenco Studio. Kris has studied flamenco guitar in Madrid, Cordoba, Seville and London with some of Spain’s most respected Flamenco guitarists including Manolo Sanlucar, El Entri and Jeronimo Maya.
